What materials can wedding signs be made of?
From modern to rustic to traditional, and everything in between, there’s a perfect material to have your wedding signs made out of!
Acrylic
Here at Deco Ink, we’re pretty big fans of acrylic wedding signs. This plastic material (also called Lucite, acrylic, plexiglass, or polycarbonate) is super weather-resistant and can be used in infinite different combinations! We love layering two colors of acrylic for a real stand-out sign, printing on frosted sheets for a classy look, or staying traditional with colored text on a clear white sheet.

Wood
Another popular wedding sign material known for its durability, wood is a fantastic choice for couples looking for a more rustic or natural wedding aesthetic. Unlike acrylic, wood is also recyclable/compostable, which makes it a more environmentally-friendly choice. Wooden wedding signs can be painted, shaped, stained, branded, and etched to create a custom sign that’s just as unique as you are!
Mirror
Mirrors as wedding signs have been really popular the last few years! For couples looking to evoke a retro or vintage feel, heirloom and restored mirrors make the perfect backdrop for welcome signs and seating charts. Mirrors do have a couple disadvantages: sometimes text can be hard to read on the mirror, and couples are limited by what mirror sizes they can find available, unlike other materials that can be more readily cut to size. For that reason we do not offer these signs!
Paper/FOAMCORE
Couples on a bit of a tighter budget might opt for paper signage around their wedding, placed on easels or other stands in key areas. Paper signs may not be as durable as other materials, however do have the benefit of being cost-effective and recyclable. I mean who doesn’t want to save the earth and help when they can! If you’re looking to lower the cost on wedding signs or simply want to be eco-friendly, we would love to discuss signage made out of foam core!
Fabric and Canvas
Another popular wedding signage choice in recent years, fabric and canvas signs give that super intimate and hand-made feel, and can be made at a large scale. Here at Deco Ink, we do not offer this type of signage but we are open for the challenge if that is what your heart desires!
Do I have to use the same material for all of my signs?
One of the most common questions we get asked is probably this one, and while it might not be the most helpful answer, we usually respond with “it’s up to you!”. However since acrylic is our specialty, we like to keep it all cohesive and create all signage with that material.
